Changing The Face Of The Christian Landscape In Thailand

“Ya know what we’re doing?” Kendall asked rhetorically. I shrugged. “We’re changing the face of the Christian landscape in Thailand.”

Powerful statement. Even more powerful that it’s absolutely true.

We are in Bangkok with ActsCo Printing and ActsCo BookHouse for the 8th Thailand Congress on Evangelism, a Christian conference that has been inspiring Thais to bring the gospel to the remaining 5,605 sub-districts without a church.

We shipped 9 tons of Christian literature from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, and on the first day of the conference we gave away 500,000 booklets! Excited Christian Thais were crowding around our booths, happy to take all the free literature they could grab.

In the midst of the commotion, time suddenly stood still. Slow motion. Slow happy chaos. That’s when Kendall reminded me, “These books are actually reshaping the face of the Christian landscape in Thailand.”

I took in the moment. A glorious truth.

At present, there is only 0.07% population of Christians across Thailand, a country of 67 million residents. The goal of the conference is to see a jump of Christian population from 500,000 to 3 million by the year 2020.

This is a massive goal, and requires a thrust of intercessors and evangelists willing to adopt new methods of sharing the gospel to the 97% Buddhist adherents in Thailand. But it is also an attainable goal. With over 150 years of Christian witness in the former Siam, God is ready to pour out his Spirit upon this country!
